Do you want your community's teen leadership to meet and really get to know and understand teens from communities around the world?
Do your teens have what it takes to be leaders? Do you want to prepare them for leadership roles in your Jewish community?
Do you want your community's teen leadership to spend an exciting, totally different and memorable three weeks in Israel this summer?
If you answer resoundingly YES to all of these questions, then the IsraelExperts' Kulanu International Leadership Mifgash is for your community!!
What's a Mifgash?
A Mifgash is a peer encounter. The Kulanu-ILM experience means that teens won't just be meeting other young Jews; they will actually be traveling, living and learning together with those who have had different life experiences, and who come from varying types of Jewish communities. Together, they will have many opportunities to grow and develop as young leaders in the global Jewish community. And just as important, friendships that will last a lifetime will be forged in this intensive setting.
What's changed in the Jewish world?
First, the same thing that has changed in all spheres of life: COMMUNICATION - e-mail, internet, etc., have ensured that we no longer are members just of our local communities, but that we together can build global communities.
And, in the Jewish world too, lots has changed from only a generation ago. When Israel was a fledgling state, it needed all the help it could get, and the Jewish communities that offered great assistance frequently also expected Israel to model its society and institutions on those of the donor communities. Today, the relationship is much more reciprocal.
How will Kulanu-ILM prepare your teens to become leaders in this changing Jewish world?
The Kulanu-ILM program will look at the issues of Jewish peoplehood today, and the changing roles Diaspora and Israeli Jews play. By learning about and from others, commitment to a reciprocal relationship, based on mutuality and joint endeavor, will be strengthened.
In addition, the participants will actually be building their own summer community, with each participant taking on responsibilities that directly affect day-to-day life at Kulanu-ILM- exactly as a leader does in any setting.
What is the program all about?
Kulanu-ILM method is hands-on and experiential, combining learning with travel all over the country, sport activities, arts, music, archeological digs, etc.; the teens will be participating in activities such as a Masada hike and Jordan River rafting.
While the program is a travel experience, the majority of Kulanu-ILM will take place in three rural locations: a kibbutz in the Negev, a kibbutz on the shores of the Kinneret, and an agricultural educational village near Gedera.
