Registration for Summer 2008 trips opens on February 12th '08.
Below are some of the most common questions that people ask before registration opens and how you can make sure you're ready when it does open!
What can I do before registration opens?
How can I ensure that I have the best chance of getting on a trip this winter and what is the actual application process?
Important info if you or a parent holds Israeli citizenship
What you can do now
1. Get your Passport!
You cannot be assigned to a flight until you have a valid Passport. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months after the trip. Israeli law will NOT let you into Israel without this. If you don't have a passport, apply for one now. If you need to extend your passport, do it now.
If you already have your passport, either take a good digital picture of it or scan it and get ready to email it to us when registration opens (do NOT email it before Feb 15th).
2. If you want to travel with friends - Get Organized!
To increase your chances of traveling together all members of your group must individually complete the application process as quickly as possible. During the phone interview you will be asked for the names of those with whom you wish to travel.

Every season we have more applicants than seats. There are some things we recommend you do in order to best
increase your chances of coming to Israel with us this winter:
- Step 1 - When registration opens in September come to our website and click the "Register Now!" button to fill out the Taglit-Birthright Israel application form
- Step 2- Register with the IsraelExperts InfoCenter
- Step 3 - Pay the refundable deposit of $250
- Step 4 - Sign & send the waiver to IsraelExperts
- Step 5 - Send a copy of your passport
- Step 6 - Once you have completed steps 1-5 you will be able to schedule your interview on the InfoCenter.
Be patient and persistent. Registering may go slow because there are so many people doing it at the same time. Don't give up! You will get through, just keep trying.
Be smart about it - you can complete steps 1 through 5 in ANY order - so if the Taglit-Birthright Israel application is slow, carry on and do one of the other steps, then come back to it later!
Seats will be assigned on a first come, first served basis once steps 1-6 are completed.
Each participant must check into the InfoCenter regularly. The InfoCenter is THE place for all information and updates about the trip, including flight times, itineraries, packing lists, etc.

4. Additional Documents that may be needed:
According to Israeli citizenship law, you are considered to be a citizen of the State of Israel if one of the following statements is true.
You were born outside of Israel to a parent who is a citizen of Israel (mother or father) and who acquired Israeli citizenship by birth or through immigration to Israel, or
You were born in Israel, or
You acquired Israeli citizenship by immigrating to Israel.
The first case is normally the one that is the most easily overlooked because it is the least "obvious" among them. Israeli citizenship, once acquired, is permanent, is independent of the place of residence, and may ONLY be given up through a formal request and administrative procedure.
If ANY of the above apply to you, it is very important to read on:
If you are a citizen of the State of Israel, by any of the definitions above, Taglit-Birthright Israel requires that you prove by official documentation that you left Israel before the age of 12. The following documents are acceptable:
- Middle School & High School records for each year between 12 and 18 years old, or
- A letter from your middle & high school(s) confirming attendance between the ages 12 and 18 years, or
- Your parents' immigration papers, or
- A letter from the Israeli consulate, or
- A letter from your family doctor on headed notepaper confirming that you have been his/her patient between the ages of 12 and 18.
You should prepare your documents and get ready to send them to us when registration opens.
PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU ARE ISRAELI BY ISRAELI LAW WE CANNOT SECURE YOUR PLACE UNTIL WE HAVE THIS DOCUMENTATION.
In addition, if you are a citizen of the State of Israel, by any of the definitions above, Israeli law requires that you enter and leave Israel using an Israeli passport (It is recommended that you bring your other passport as well so as to facilitate your re-entry into the United States or Canada). Please see this page for more info.
